Unit 5 Objectives: The New Deal, World War 2 and the Beginning of the Cold War
  1. Students will explore the New Deal program and reflect on whether it provided relief, recovery and reform for America during the Great Depression.
  2. Students will judge the immediate political, social and economic impact of America’s involvement in WW2.
  3. Students will understand how the events of WW2 and the Cold War are connected and how they impacted life in America during the 1950s and 1960s

Homework: Read and Outline Chapter 22, Sections 1 -3
Activity 1:
Read the Summation of the New Deal from the Word Doc. & Answer the questions.
Activity 2: Analyze the New Deal Political Cartoon
Activity 3: * Identify what the New Deal programs listed under question #5 and what each tried to accomplish (use Chapter 22, Sections 1 - 3 to help you answer your questions)

​Summation: The New Deal radically changed the role do the Federal Government in American Society. What were some ways in which government changed as a result of these programs? 
Activity 4: The New Deal Today - Using the Internet, look up the New Deal Agencies and Act and see if they are still in use today. If an agency is not still in existence, find another government agency that preforms a similar function in our modern Federal government. If the agency still exists go to their webpage and compare their current goal as an agency with the original intent of the agency.
